It’s Saturday and we’re approaching one of my favourite times of the year… the week before Christmas.  Favourite not just because of the familypresentswinecheesechocolatenewbookscribbagegames,  but also because of the deep history of the event: the connections to past times, to dark, to candles, and to ancient texts which speak poetically of the reason for the season. These ancient texts, stretching back at least 1400 years, are the O Antiphons.  The first, today’s one, is

O Sapientia, quae ex ore Altissimi prodiisti,
attingens a fine usque ad finem,
fortiter suaviterque disponens…
