How many people are you?
CS Lewis, in The Four Loves, says this ““In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity; I want other lights than my own to show all his facets.”
Our facets: we show different sides of our characters to different people, and this is obvious. So why the big fuss about hypocrisy? Surely people will understand that we have to be different according to circumstance?
I’m thinking of trees: our root personality is the trunk and how we are with other people…
