Hindsight.

It’s a beautiful thing.

Three years ago today I started as Head of Science having been promoted internally. I’ve had a pretty rapid teaching career to date and it would be fair to say my demenour would have had a slight rabbit in headlights quality about it at my first department meeting.

I remember feeling like I was continuously drowning for the 1st year, always being reactive rather than proactive, and constantly waiting for my new team to discover I was a fake.

But at some point, probably in a dark winter of teaching despair I suddenly realised I could swim and drowning…
